Kenya’s telecommunications sector saw significant growth in the fourth quarter of the 2023/2024 financial year, according to the Communications Authority's report. From April to June 2024, mobile subscriptions reached 68.9 million, with a penetration rate of 133.7 percent, reversing earlier declines in SIM card uptake.

Mobile money services also grew, with 39.8 million subscriptions and a penetration rate of 77.3 percent, boosted by the seamless transfer of funds between M-Pesa and Airtel Money.

Fixed internet subscriptions rose by 7.4 percent to 1.5 million users, driven by increased reliance on digital services and competitive pricing. Notably, satellite internet saw explosive growth, increasing by 1,955 percent, thanks to Starlink's entry into the market.

Broadcasting services also experienced a slight rise, with subscriptions reaching 6.39 million by June 2024. These trends underscore Kenya’s ongoing digital transformation, marked by rapid expansion in mobile and internet services.
