VML South Africa and Vodacom are parting ways as their contract nears completion. This announcement follows a scheduled pitch process.

The partnership saw Vodacom achieve unprecedented marketing success, including high-profile campaigns such as the 2022 Anti-Hijack Ads campaign, which won Bronze Lions in Mobile and Creative Data and a Silver Lion in Media at Cannes Lions.

VML's collaboration with Vodacom, which began in December 2020, allowed the agency to hire top talent and produce significant work during a challenging time. MD Danelle Stiles highlighted the alignment of values and trust that enabled the creation of exceptional campaigns. CEO Jarred Cinman noted that the Vodacom account positioned VML as a large, integrated agency.

Successful campaigns included "Unlock Your Summer" with Zakes Bantwini, "Turn to Us" for Vodacom Business, and the nostalgic "30 Years of Wonderful."

Vodacom's achievements under VML’s guidance include several awards and a top 10 spot in the Loeries brand rankings for sub-Saharan Africa.

Vodacom has recently appointed Ogilvy as its integrated lead agency starting August 1, 2024, to support its transition to a technology communications leader and enhance its mission of connecting people through technology.
