Ethio Telecom, the incumbent operator in Ethiopia, has recently announced a collaboration with the Addis Ababa city administration to implement a software-defined wide area network (SD-WAN) and state-of-the-art infrastructure. This initiative aims to establish seamless and reliable connectivity across various offices within the Ethiopian capital.
The deployment of advanced technologies will encompass the utilization of the latest operating systems known for their exceptional quality, reliability and efficiency. The primary goal is to enhance the delivery of superior services to residents of Addis Ababa while optimizing performance capacity and service efficiency.
This strategic project aligns with the Ethiopian government's digital transformation agenda outlined in the "Digital Ethiopia 2025" plan. Moreover, it is consistent with Ethio Telecom's recently unveiled three-year development strategy, "Lead," which emphasizes the company's commitment to go beyond traditional connectivity and actively contribute to the nation's digital transformation efforts.
This collaboration follows Ethio Telecom's previous endeavors, including a partnership to transform Adama into a smart city and an agreement with the Federal Supreme Court of Ethiopia to digitize the country's judicial system. Additionally, the company has an ongoing collaboration with the Ministry of Revenue to facilitate tax payments through its mobile financial service, Telebirr.
