Competition in the satellite connectivity segment in Africa has increased. To reach more new consumers, operators are investing in improved Internet capabilities, among other things.

Telecom and digital satellite service provider iSAT will rely on energy company Clear Blue Technologies International Inc. to ensure the continuity of its satellite telecom services in four African countries, unknown for the time being. In addition, the company, specialized in off-grid power supply and smart solar energy solutions, will deploy its equipment on a minimum of 300 iSAT satellite systems.

By the end of the first quarter of 2023, the power systems will be ordered for C$2 million. The first 30 systems will be shipped in Q1 of 2022 and the remainder will be shipped when the iSAT project funding is completed. The five-year contract includes capacity upgrades and ongoing service management by Clear Blue Technologies.

“Clear Blue Technologies is the market leader in providing smart, reliable, off-grid power for mission critical telecom infrastructure,” said Rakesh Kukreja, founder and managing director of iSAT Africa. “Through a number of previous deployments with Clear Blue, we have seen the strength of Clear Blue’s technology and the positive impact it has on our business model and service to our customers,” he added.

The economic need to provide telecommunication services to underserved populations remains a key driver across Africa. This partnership between Clear Blue Technologies and iSAT targets populations that are still not covered by telecom networks in sub-Saharan Africa
