The Internet Society Foundation (ISF) has launched a new round of its grant program, known as Strengthening Communities, Improving Lives and Livelihoods (SCILLS), which aims to promote economic growth and increase educational opportunities by enabling individuals and communities to use the Internet more knowledgeably and skillfully. Eligible organizations in Senegal can apply for grants of up to US$250,000 to fund projects lasting up to two years. The foundation is seeking proposals that leverage the increasing access to the internet in Senegal to provide educational opportunities and support economic inclusion for underserved and unserved communities.

Moreover, the SCILLS program operates in several countries across Africa, Asia and Latin America, with Bangladesh, Brazil, Colombia, Ghana, Indonesia and Senegal being the target countries for this round. Applications for the program opened on May 1, 2023, and the deadline for completed applications is May 31, 2023. The foundation plans to issue provisional award notifications in August 2023. According to the International Telecommunication Union's Data Hub, 58% of individuals in Senegal currently use the Internet, and the foundation hopes to capitalize on this trend to promote sustainable income sources and increase economic independence for local communities.
