Elon Musk has made a significant announcement about his latest venture in the field of artificial intelligence (AI). Musk, who previously expressed his intention to develop a competitor to ChatGPT, has now officially unveiled his new AI company called “xAI.”

With a team of twelve members, xAI has launched its website, and Musk will be leading the company. The website highlights xAI's plans to collaborate closely with Twitter's X, Tesla and other organizations in order to advance their shared mission. Echoing Musk's previous aspirations in the AI domain, the website states that xAI aims to comprehend the true essence of the universe. Notably, Musk had earlier voiced his concerns about OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT, implementing safeguards against biased or sexist responses from the chatbot.

Musk has revealed some details about his upcoming AI venture, teasing the development of "TruthGPT," which he describes as a highly truth-seeking AI that prioritizes understanding the universe.

This announcement by Musk arrives after he previously cautioned about the potential risks of AI, including the possibility of "civilization destruction," and joined other technology leaders in calling for a halt to the unchecked AI race.

While additional specifics about xAI's mission are currently scarce, the website indicates that the company is actively recruiting personnel. Presently, all the individuals listed on the website as part of the xAI team are men.

The future of Twitter, a company Musk acquired for $44 billion in October, has become uncertain following the launch of Meta's rival app, Threads, which gained over 100 million sign-ups within a week. Additionally, there have been reports of declining usage on Twitter.

The upheaval at Twitter comes after months of Musk facing criticism from some users and advertisers due to staff reductions, controversial policy changes and provocative remarks. In addition to Twitter, Musk oversees various other companies, including Tesla, SpaceX, Neuralink and The Boring Company.
