The minister of communications and information technology Amr Talaat and minister of tourism and antiquities Khaled El-Enany have held a follow-up meeting to examine the latest developments in the project of raising internet speed in all tourist facilities, nationwide, especially in Sharm El-Sheikh as a first phase. This meeting was held as part of the arrangements for hosting the 27th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention on Climate Change (COP27).

The new data center, one of the 111 new data centers being deployed by the company, gives service provider partners access to a full range of cyber protection solutions upon which they can build new services while delivering faster access, constant data availability, and data sovereignty to their clients.

As part of the launch of operations in the country, Safaricom is constructing a prefabricated data center in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa. Anwar Soussa, managing director of Safaricom Ethiopia, said the company's first data center has arrived in Addis and the company is working on its network rollout.

This year, Kenya's telecom regulator is set to deploy its 5G network on a pilot basis. Matano Ndaro, director of licensing, compliance and standards at the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA), announced that the regulator has developed a roadmap that outlines strategies to facilitate the deployment of this project. CA will start authorizing the first 5G pilot projects this year, then release the required spectrum bands and finally issue commercial 5G licenses.
