Aziz Akhannouch, Head of the Government of Morocco, inaugurated the beginning of GITEX AFRICA’s debut edition in Marrakech, Morocco, marking a significant milestone for the African digital economy. This influential event brings together key stakeholders from the global and African tech ecosystems, uniting to drive bold digital transformation initiatives in Africa's flourishing innovation economy.

Akhannouch led the opening ceremony of the continent's largest tech and start-up industry show, taking place from May 31 to June 2. The event boasts an impressive lineup, including 900 exhibitors and start-ups, 250 leading investors, 250 conference speakers and 30 ministerial delegations, attracting tens of thousands of attendees from 120 countries.

GITEX AFRICA 2023, with participation from over 100 government entities representing 80 countries, stands as a catalyst for numerous investment pledges and public-private partnership announcements, further propelling Africa's digital transformation agenda.

In his opening remarks, Akhannouch emphasized the crucial role of digital technology in economic development, both internationally and within the African continent. He acknowledged Africa's efforts to position itself as a dynamic environment that fosters innovation. As such, GITEX AFRICA serves as a platform to showcase the promising potential of the African continent and its ongoing endeavors to develop technology and innovation talents.
