Huawei Marine and PCCW Global announced that the submarine cable used in the MARS project has landed on Rodrigues Island, an outer island that forms part of Mauritius. The MARS project is the first submarine cable system to connect the islands of Mauritius and Rodrigues.

Huawei’s mobile payment system Huawei Pay which is operational in some European markets and in China is set to launch in South Africa in 2019. Akhram Mohamed, Huawei South Africa’s CTO confirmed the date during the launch of Huawei Mate 20 Pro in Kyalami.

The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat has witnessed the ceremony of signing a cooperation protocol between the National Telecommunication Institute (NTI), affiliated to the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) and Huawei Technologies- Egypt, to train 100 fresh graduate engineers on the latest ICT technologies, related to the Fourth Generation (4G) technologies and Long Term Evolution (LTE), which is one of the latest standards of wireless communication in the world. Graduates are to be granted accredited certification from the international company Huawei.
