Vodacom South Africa's Chief Officer of Vodacom Business, William Mzimba, has elected to retire from Vodacom after a five-year tenure and will leave the company at the end of September 2023.

During his tenure, William headed up the Vodacom Business Enterprise units in Africa, where he led a team tasked with driving the digital transformation of businesses and governments across several industries and markets.

More recently, William was instrumental in the launch of "Turn To Us," a solutions-driven program that is a call-out to businesses of all sizes to partner and collaborate with Vodacom Business so that we contribute towards their success and ultimately their bottom line. He also led the diversification of our IoT business, supported by various acquisitions and extended its reach to include Vodafone markets, entrenching Vodacom as a market leader in IoT.

Led by a passion for education, Mzimba spearheaded the launch of Vodacom's Connected Education during the pandemic lockdown, which delivered virtual education to more than a million students. With his team, they leveraged the Mezzanine platform to deliver COVID-19 vaccinations impacting over 40 million citizens, connected over three million farmers and delivered e-vouchers to support small-scale farmers.

William holds an MBA from Bond University, a BA (with honors) in Business Studies from De Montfort University, a Management Advancement Programme (MAP) from Wits and a diploma in Datametrics (Computer Science) from UNISA.
