Leading pan-African telecoms group Liquid Telecom has announced that it is investing 8 billion Egyptian Pounds ($400m US Dollars) in Egypt over the next three years. This is part of a major partnership with Telecom Egypt which includes network infrastructure and data centers.

Silicon Waha, affiliated to the Egyptian Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) signed a cooperation protocol with Vodafone Egypt, with the aim of expanding Vodafone’s business in Egypt and creating more job opportunities in the new technology parks.

Being ahead of African telecommunications companies, MTN Group has declared that it is the first to join the IoT World Alliance in Africa. The IoT World Alliance is a global collaboration of telecommunications providers dedicated to providing seamless machine-to-machine connectivity around the world.

European telecommunications vendor Nokia has announced a new partnership with Egyptian mobile operator Telecom Egypt. The new partnership will help enhance the broadband capabilities Telecom Egypt can offer its customer base.

The Tanzanian government has expressed its opposition of the Airtel Africa IPO because the country should have been consulted ahead, and given that the ownership of Airtel Tanzania will depend of negotiations between Bharti Airtel and the government.
