Orange, a major telecoms provider in Africa and the Middle East, and NSIA, a leader of bancassurance, are pleased to announce the launch of Orange Bank Africa in Abidjan and Côte d’Ivoire. Orange Bank Africa, headed by Jean-Louis Menann-Kouamé, will offer clients a range of simple savings and credit services available at all times via mobile phone.

Telkom has delivered a solid top-line performance in the year to 31 March 2020, with revenue increasing 3.0% to R43.0 billion, mainly driven by a 54.4% increase in mobile service revenue in a year where South Africa slipped into a technical recession and consumer and business confidence waned. The performance was underpinned by capital investments of R7.8 billion in the period.

Strengthening its telecommunications business in the western African region, Orange Guinea Sonatel is set to digitize its fixed broadband (FTTH) services by migrating to digital enablement and revenue management solutions provider Alepo’s Authentication, Authorization, and Accounting (AAA) platform.

In light of their ongoing strategic partnership, Telecom Egypt and Etisalat Misr signed two first of their kind agreements relating to transmission and mobile-to-fixed interconnection. The first agreement entails a development of Telecom Egypt's transmission and infrastructure services’ commercial model with Etisalat Misr, where Etisalat Misr for the first time signs a long-term agreement including an annual commitment for Telecom Egypt’s infrastructure and transmission services.

Angola awarded the license for its fourth telecoms network to Lebanese group Africell, as sub-Saharan Africa's second-biggest oil producer opens other economic sectors to foreign competition. Africell is already present in four African countries - Gambia, Democratic Republic of Congo, Sierra Leone and Uganda.
